Blackberry Cobbler

2 1/2 cups fresh or frozen (thawed and drained) blackberries
1 cup sugar (use less if berries are very sweet)
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1/2 cup butter, melted

In a medium bowl, stir together blackberries and sugar. Let stand for 20 minutes or until fruit syrup forms. Heat over to 375 degrees.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt and milk. Whisk in melted butter until blended. Pour in ungreased 8-inch square pan. Spoon blackberry mixture over batter.

Bake 45-55 minutes or until dough rises and is golden. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
